Li Gao: Photomanipulation at the service of fantasy

Get into the world of Li Gao, one of the young promises of the Flickr Community. Each one of her work create a world that remembers us of fantasy movies and romantic litterature.

THE INTERVIEW WITH LI GAO

Can you shortly introduce yourself and how/when you started photography?

Li is a 16 year old photographer from New York. Her work varies in styles but she enjoys taking conceptive photography. She has always been an artist, but had developed a passion for photography when she was in 9th grade. On her birthday, she received a camera, and that marked the start of her journey for photography.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
I get my inspiration from movies i watch, books i read, and music i listen to.

What would you like to express through photography?
I like photography because it is a vehicle to express my emotions, fiction and nonfiction. Through photography, I hope that the viewer can see what i see, feel how i feel.

You do a lot of self-portait what do you like about it?
I like self portraits because i get to be both the model and the photographer, which is great because it allows the photo to be more cohesive.

What material do you use?
Canon 350 D, Canon 50mm, 17-40mm, 75-300mm

If you could invite 3 photographers or artist at a dinner who would it be and why?
Lara Jade – her work first caught my eyes, and inspired me to start photography.
Shinji Watanabe – his work is truly amazing. plus, he works for final fantasy, which makes him my hero.
